When is content curation not content curation? Content curation can be defined as gathering important and relevant information to tell a more complete and applicable story, but there is smart curation and there is not-so-smart curation. Here, let me show you exactly what I mean. One day you tweeted about a new release. Before long, you'll find content like this: Breaking News E-Newsletter. Popular stories from , , and! Obviously, you'd be honored to be included as a source of breaking news, but wait, are newsletters really that valuable. President Robert Geller’s experience made him rethink newsletters so prevalent on Google Phone Number List and other social media platforms. He became skeptical (not to mention a little disappointed) when he discovered that the newsletter curator had no idea who I was or what my content was about. Needless to say, he was mortified to see the content being cobbled together through automated keyword-based scraping. What is the moral of this story? It’s simple, of course: practice smart curation and don’t be lazy when it comes to piecing together stories using content aggregators. Dr. William Ward, professor of the practice of social media at Syracuse University, said the right approach is to develop training and awareness in digital literacy and social media etiquette.
